mom was a beloved High School Art Teacher for 33 years, she had a way of inspiring everyone! She brought out the creativity in the most skeptical students. One of her most famous assignments was “edible art”. The assignment do something that represents any kind of art- with food. The results ranged from leaning towers of pisa, to cakes decorated as paintings. This was 10 years before the extreme cake decorating that we se now on realty tv!! She was ahead of her time!
Fast forward a decade or so, my brother and my sister in-law have taken edible art to their son’s classrooms. It was when my nephew moved to a school that assigned a snack to a parent, that edible art took on new life. For the last 6 years its been so much fun watching their talents develop and seeing the proud face of my nephew Mason, presenting the newest project ready to distribute to his class.

[...] By Dana & Todd If you have seen the Jello watermelons this is similar. Slice oranges in halves. Scoop out the orange and fill the orange half with colorful jello. Refrigerate the jello filled oranges. Once the jello is firm add a sail. You can make the sail out of colorful paper or construction paper. More Play with Food [...]
